god bless the world

hello all, matthew here

its been a little while. ive been hiding out waiting for the heat to leave, so its almost gone and im half tan or awake and ready to play a bit. we've also been getting some love via the internet which i want to share with you.

kevin at mp3hugger writes, "...they have the songs to sell a million records but some careful tailoring means the ditties are in it for the long haul, never outstaying their welcome. ‘Squeeze’ flaunts some dishy Siskin strums and a soaring vocal that advances and retreats with passionate glee. 2006 has not been a classic year for good albums but ‘Glorious’ should ensure it goes out with a bang.." read the rest, here

Rachael at underrated writes, "The new tracks, while still in the beginning stages of production, harbor on exactly why we loved Levy in the first place. Each track is a self-contained hit, so much so that I wonder if those boys have some sort of machine in their recording studio that knows exactly what chord progressions and melodies I like. And yet when compared to their first album, it's like Neil Armstrong said -- a small step, but a giant leap." read the rest here

The Deli Magazine posted an interview we did with them a month or so back, it reads, "NYC-enesters, LEVY, cleverly recall tales of lust, tragic endings, and love among city ruins within a guitar-driven, catchy and rhythmic framework. Why reveal yourself in interviews when you rely on your music for the purest form of soul exposure?…or maybe I just interrupted someone’s precious beauty sleep…" read the rest right here

tonight its Danny Big Sleeps birthday, happy birthday danny x

The Natural State of Being Stately

The natural state of being stately, simply put, is the state of being dignified, astute, and quite drunk.
I often wonder if this state did not exist would we be able to function properly as a nation; a world. Following the teachings of the Aztecs, we know that large sums of money belong to those who exhibit a superior prowess for inebriation, retardation, and, finally and most importantly, stateliness.
Take George Jones for instance. Taken by his proclivity to drink and mow the lawn at the same time, Jones decided to ride his mower to the store for an ample supply of Kentucky bourbon.
That reminds me of a funny story I once made up about a beaver slapping his tail into a bowl of pudding.
For more information on the natural state of being stately, approach me after any of our shows. Before approaching me, however, you must have in your possession one or more of the following: 1. a Campari and soda, 2. a pint of lager, 3. a bowling ball with your name on it, 4. a smile, 5. a can of Schlitz, 6. a bag of fruit (fresh only), 7. a bow-tie, 8. a paper sack filled with flagged cheeseburger toothpicks (various colors), 9. a fresh tuna (whole), 10. a cup of coffee (black).
Have a lovely day and don't ever forget to be as stately as possible.

Maine
I was up in Maine last weekend. It was a pleasant escape from the brutal New York City summer. I even found this horse skull in a pond near the house where I was staying.
