ah the photos
so i was up last night feeling sick to my stomach over all of my beautiful lost tour photos, when it hit me i had thousands of others that noone has ever even seen.

these photos are a mix of the past few months, starting in january 06, ending around when we got back from SXSW. x.

fucked in camden, long flights home, happy faces allowed!
matthew here. got back to nyc a few hours ago, played our final show in london at the barfly, thanks to everyone that came out to wish us off.

a few hours before the show, we had just arrived at the barfly in camden, we all piled out of the bus which was parked up the street from the venue. we all scattered to the internet cafe to check this and that (since we were early)

on my return to the van, i found david and james L standing outside, "we've got some bad news" long story short, in the 30 or so minutes we left the van, some bastards broke the lock, climbed in, and made off with my brand new laptop (containing every single photograph from the tour, aswell as the levy website hard files) my digital camera plus a brand new ipod, not to mention every guitar pedal i use, and my cables...and thats just my stuff, nigel our tour manager lost his laptop, james b lost of backpack with passport and all (luckly with his boyish goodlooks he scammed his way back into the country with out it) lucky for us, they only took what they could carry leaving behind our guitars and large bags.

so, if you meet someone with a new laptop that happens to have a huge levy logo as a backround, yeah. fuck.

aside from that, the tour was a fucking blast. the last show in brighton was amazing, sold out nice large crowd, maccabee love, t-shirt trading between bands, stayed up all night with hugo, rob & crew wandering the streets of brighton trying not to get arrested. im gonna miss those boys, they have an open invite to visit anytime.

ah so thats all for now, bowery show coming up with guillimots i think thats how they spell it.

much love,
matthew

Glasgow
hello, matthew here writing you from glasgow scotland. its been a busy little whirlwind of shows since i last posted, the tour is coming to a close soon, sadly. But as promised, below are some select photos. once we get home i'll post a massive one for you of fun and photos telling all our tales from the road. the maccabees have been amazing to have us with them on this trip, they are sweet fellas. we also just found out we'll be playing the bowery ballroom in nyc with another uk band, Guillemots. (more info about that soon)

so, from tonight, we drive from glasgow down to manchester, im sad i didnt get to run along the highlands like i wanted, but we did drive through some beautiful mountains as the rain seemed to switch on and off like a lightswitch.

x

ah yes, self portrait, this is at the korova in liverpool, we played in this mirror box that people could look down at from the street with televisions everywhere.

korova, liverpool 21:20
sitting here at the korova on fleet street, we play later tonight, probably around 11pmish. its all glass and mirrors here, its been a bitch trying to post photos, when i get an internet connection to post i never have the right tools you know, so anyway, yes, soon.

tomorrow we have a day off, so were going to roam liverpool a bit, see the sights you know. i feel as if im coming down with a cold so im trying to fight it back, taking my vitamins, i think im losing the fight but its to soon to tell. sunday we meet back up with the maccabees boys in cardif whales to play together, so that will be nice. hugo is doing much better, spoke to orlando macca yesterday, hes out of the hospital and healing himself up, so thats good news.

its a rainy crisp evening and im going to have a walk around, still have a few hours to kill before the show.

much love,
matthew.

cheltenham pints
ah so its been interesting, we werent really sure what was going on. but it seems to have sorted itself out, or rather, our amazing booking agent(s) sorted us out (lucy & liam at ITB whom we love so much)

looks like Hugo Maccabee is still in the hospital, so, instead of us roaming the countryside showless, we'll be doing the following makeup dates. by the weekend, the tour will (we hope) be back to normal, and we'll be heading off with our pals the maccabees once again, hugo and all.

new dates:

wed april 5th - Leicester - Charlotte (supporting Polytechnic)
thurs april 6th - Korova - Liverpool
Sat April 8th - Birmingham - Club Panic party @ The Barfly

today we drove to bristol, praying we'd be able to play, but alas no, so instead i walked around for about an hour looking for an internet cafe in the sun, while the boys drank some pints. from bristol we drove to our hotel in cheltenham where we are now. david plans to visit the grave of brian jones tomorrow, and then we drive off to leicester where were supporting the band polytechnic, should be a good night.

i promise to have photos up tomorrow, im very tired and i need a drink.

love,
matthew

matthew here,

writing you from a library in wetherby. two shows down, nottingham the first night we got here, last night we played in newcastle at the other rooms. its been good fun with the maccabees, but this am we woke up to a sad call.

turns out hugo, the maccbees guitarist has an absess in his throat, so tonights show, tomorrow nights show, and maybe the one after that are off. he went to the hospital early this Am and to our knowledge hes still there now. we've been waiting for calls most the day today to figure out what we'll do with ourselves. We're in a town called Wetherby, directly between newcastle and sheffield (where the show tomorrow night was supposed to be) the boys are to my right reading books, james broughel is scrolling through "a short story of iraq" while david and james L read books that i cant see the cover of. ive been taking photos like a psycho and i would love to post them, but i havnt had the chance. if i can get my camera hooked up to this computer i can post some from today. But be sure, many more will follow.

Nigel Banks, our driver slash tour manager has been amazing, and a great laugh, we'll have some headshots up soon so you can see his pretty face. we'd be lost without him.

guess thats all i can report for now, looks like we get to go be tourists and walk around this town. id rather play shows, but you take what you can get.

Hopefully Hugo will pull out of it and we'll get back on with the tour asap. our love goes out to him and we hope he'll feel better soon, the chosen tour must go on!

much love,
matthew
